Request a correction to a CARFAX Report

Report DiscrepanciesUpdated recently

If you believe that information on a CARFAX Vehicle History Report is inaccurate (e.g. incorrect odometer reading, ownership records, or accident history), you can submit a Data Research Request:

Submission Steps:

  1. Go to the Contact Us page and select Report a Concern.
  2. Enter the 17-character VIN and fill in your vehicle details.
  3. Under Correction Type, select the specific category of the discrepancy (e.g., Odometer, Accident, Title Brand, Ownership, or Other).
  4. Explain the issue in detail.
  5. Attach Supporting Documents: We cannot verify or alter report data without official documentation. Please upload:
  • DMV Title or registration documents
  • Police accident reports
  • Insurance documentation
  • Official dealership repair or service invoices

Once submitted, a Resolution Manager will be assigned to your case, verify the documentation with the reporting entity, and email you a final decision. You can also email supporting documents to ConsumerResearch@carfax.com referencing your Case Number.
